Frequently Asked Questions

2025 Specific

What is The Night of the Fae Theme?

Two Floors. Two Worlds. One Night.
For one night of the year, the veil between worlds is broken, allowing mortals to enter the realm of the fae. A realm split between faeries and demons, the Light and the Dark, with denizens both good and evil throughout. Brave mortals are bid to don a mask and dress in their most elegant or outlandish vestments so as to hide their earthly identity; that they may walk undetected amongst the creatures of the fae.

Can I transfer or sell my tickets to another guest

Transfer of Tickets: Tickets may be sold to another Attendee, provided they are above the age of 19 years old, by using our Secure Ticket Transfer System. A transfer fee may apply.

To transfer/sell your tickets to another guest
First, go to our Secure Ticket Transfer System. Then enter the email address you used to purchase the tickets and your order number. You will then enter the recipient's name and email. General

What is Carnival Noir?

Carnival Noir is an immersive 'living theatre' masquerade with a theme that changes year-to-year. The event hosts world-class aerialists, fire performers, MCs, acrobats, burlesque performers, jugglers, actors, musicians, and themed characters to bring each year to life.

Is there an age requirement?

Yes. This is an adult event with mature content, and we offer alcohol at our many bars. You must be at least 19 years old, and you must present a valid government-issued ID for entry.

How do I dress?

This is an elegant masquerade party with a dark fantasy twist. Be the envy of the evening and dress in your most glamorous outfit, or play into the year's theme with fantasy aspects to accent your attire. How you interpret that is up to you, but formal attire is required, as is donning a mask (we'll have some available for sale at the party if you forget). This is NOT a costume or Halloween party, so leave your superhero outfit in the closet.

View our Attire Page for more details.

Is there a coat check?

Yes! We'll have coat racks available for you to store your coats and bags during the event. Please note that this is a non-ticketed system - there won't be attendants or claim tickets. We recommend not leaving valuables in your coat pockets, as items are stored at your own risk. The coat area will be in a designated space for your convenience.

Are there any items I can't bring in the event?

What is the VIP ticket/experience?

VIP is the Ultimate way to experience Carnival Noir. It starts you with a 60-minute immersive gourmet dining experience catered by Nico Taverna in one of 5 different haunted dining rooms. After your meal, your early access to the Golden Hall (ground-level bar) and Faerie Fountain (adjoining lounge) will begin, and after you will join the main event at 8 pm.

What dietary restrictions can be accommodated for the VIP meal?

We can only accommodate vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, and dairy-free restrictions. All dishes are gluten-free by default.

Menu: Fresh Bread, Charcuterie, Pollo Valdostana Chicken breast with prosciutto cotto and provolone cheese, Eggplant Parmesan, Mashed Potatoes, and Dessert. Alcohol is served but not included in the price presented.

What and where is the Scarehouse (where this takes place)?

Scarehouse Windsor is a world-class haunted house attraction (the largest in SE Ontario) and event space located at 1441 McDougall Ave, Windsor, ON, Canada. Carnival Noir is hosted at Scarehouse Windsor as a venue, but does not have anything to do with the haunted attraction part.

What should we expect?

Carnival Noir is a mix of dark, elegant masquerade and immersive living theatre. Expect to see world-class aerialists, fire performers, acrobats, burlesque, shibari, musical performances, and themed characters. The event takes place over two floors and multiple areas all at the same time in a "choose your own adventure" style. No two attendees will have the same experience.

Is it scary?

No. This is a lavish and over-the-top masquerade experience that happens to take place in a large haunted attraction. There are no jump-scares, monsters, or frights at this event, but prepare to be dazzled and wowed by the immersive characters, performances, and over-arching story of the night.

Can I take photos/video and post them?

We encourage event participants to take photos and video for their own personal use on their photos or small cameras. You are encouraged to post these to social media and any other personal outlets you'd like. There is, however, no commercial/professional photography. Carnival Noir will have our photographers and videographers capturing moments during the event, and as such, any outside commercial/professional photography/filming (including SLR and DSLR cameras and other equipment) and/or filming is strictly prohibited. Use of Carnival Noir photos for commercial purposes is also strictly prohibited.

I cannot attend anymore. Can I refund my ticket?

Per our Terms of Service:

Refunds & Exchanges: All ticket sales are final. There will be no refunds or exchanges, except as provided in Clause 8.

Beware of scammers attempting to sell fake tickets or offering for-cash trades outside our secure transfer system. All ticket sales and transfers between guests must be done through our Secure Ticket Transfer System.
